Misty morning
There is no question the early morning is the best time to be on the water.
The water is often calm, quite and eerily beautiful.

Close encounters
Every now and then the Orcas pass by our kayaks at close range.
We do not approach the whales too close as this is poor viewing ethics. We
prefer them to approach us on their terms.

The Black Bear
Black bears are common in this area. We find that the best time to see them along the shore is in August and September.
They love eating the sea creatures found under the beach rocks.

Relaxing
A key element to any vacation. The large back deck is a perfect place to put your feet up and enjoy the view.
We will be sampling many areas of Johnstone Strait and the Broughton Islands which means part of our day will be cruising throughout the islands looking for the next prime kayaking destination.

The Songhee at Anchor Each night we will be at a different anchorage, deep within the Broughton Islands, or in Johnstone Strait.
The kayaks are always ready to go when you are. Launching from the Songhee is easy and swift so getting going each day is not too time consuming.
We use a variety of single and double kayaks. We try our best to match the paddler with the boat of their desires. However, if each person wants to paddle the same kayak, well... we will just have to share.

Dalls Porpoise
Killer Whales are not the only sea mammal that swim these waters.
Dalls Porpoise, White Sided Dolphins, Sealions, Humpback and Minke Whales are all common.

The hot tub
There are several reasons why this tour is set apart from all the others. The
hot tub on the back deck is just one of them.
This is certainly a fine way to spend some time after a day of activity.

Doug the Deckhand +++ Doug is a fine accompaniment to each tour. He has
lived and worked on the ocean his entire life. He is an avid fisherman
always looking for a fresh meal for the evening. This 70 pound halibut was one
of two caught that day.
Guess what was for dinner that night?

Tom Sewid
On all our tours we hope to visit Tom on Village Island. A great story teller
and local legend, Tom will tell us stories from the past and present.
Village Island was once the winter home to thousands.
